i build Bitiverse by myself, it is a free pixel-art MMO in your browser one persistent world, and this is the week behind it rather than a pitch.
good news for ninety-two changes players : the ones you would have seen if you had logged in every evening.
What changed in play
What you can do now that you couldn't do before is dig your own fish pool on your own claim and get paid for voting, but also you can stack rubble a hundred to a slot. A whisper reaches a name with a space in it and so Regular Human can be spoken to.
Recall potion became an ordinary potion. I closed a hole that some players have found the hard way: if you bought extra charges the potion you were holding was something you couldn't drop or deposit.
Performance work
Most of the week was taken up in making the game smoother, with a couple of players reporting low frame rates, one of them being fifteen frames a second, which turned into a very long period of measuring before it turned into fixing.
- Frame report. It now times itself by section and names the graphics card and the render setting.
- Interface drawing. The interface now draws from one canvas instead of walking its tables every frame.
- Minimap claims. The minimap now looks its claims up in a map rather than searching for them.
- Fast render menus. The fast render setting keeps its menus readable.
Words and interface
At another it was words. The guild log says what it actually keeps now, and the ledger and the recruiting advert agree on what the colours are for.
The other day, a player read our own interface to us, and had no idea what two sentences meant, which is the cheapest bug report a developer can get.
