Chronicles of Denzar is a browser-based fantasy MMORPG with a retro 2D style.
Inspiration and graphics
Its gameplay and visual style take inspiration from classic JRPGs such as Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, The Legend of Zelda, and Golden Sun.
Retro 2D pixel art is used throughout the game.
Races and classes
Character creation includes a choice of gender and four races: Human, Eldron (elf), Hounzalid (wolfman), and Rhizard (lizardman).
Players then choose one of six starting class paths: Attendant, Blademaster, Herbalist, Raider, Tracker, or Warrior.
Each path develops through class levels, with a new progression stage every 25 levels and a final specialization at level 100. Herbalist is exclusive to Hounzalid characters and focuses on potion crafting and potion-based combat rather than direct weapon damage.
Gameplay and progression
The world of Evita is made up of outdoor areas, dungeons, and hidden locations linked to three main cities. Cities work differently from the rest of the game: instead of walking through a map, players navigate through text-based menus that lead to shops, blacksmiths, guild halls, NPCs, crafting stations, and other services.
Long-term progression revolves around a rebirth system. Once a character reaches the level cap, they can return to level 1 in exchange for permanent bonuses.
- Stat limits. Rebirths raise stat limits.
- Equipment and passives. Rebirths unlock Tier Set equipment and inherited passive skills.
- Rate increases. Rebirths increase experience, currency, and elite or boss encounter rates.
- Current limit. The system currently allows up to seven rebirths, with plans to expand that limit to ten.
Other features
The game also features a story-driven main quest, side quests, monster taming, one combat pet per character, clans, global and clan chat, private messaging, a PvP arena, crafting and forging, equipment upgrades, rare loot, seasonal events, leaderboards, player-run shops and kiosks, and cosmetic equipment costumes that are separate from stat-bearing gear.
Chronicles of Denzar is free to play and designed without pay-to-win mechanics. Donations provide cosmetic and convenience items, while all meaningful character progression remains available without spending money.
The community and moderation are run entirely by volunteers. The playerbase is small and focused on long-term progression, grinding, exploration, and theorycrafting, with combat built around planning and character development rather than fast reactions.
