Cooldown MMO has shipped version 1.1.0. The big feature for Expeditions is a daily contract board that runs beside the normal play of the map, not instead of it.
What Expeditions are
Expeditions are timed contracts on your account. Click the board on your play toolbar, pick a card, and send one champion or a duo pair from your roster on a run.
They stay on their map tile, and while away, that character cannot move, fight, gather, craft, join a party, or enter a dungeon.
Cancel anytime with no payout. When the timer ends, claim experience and expedition sigils in a separate step.
Any champion on your account can go (Including one who is not on your active five character roster). Expeditions is great for alts or profession characters that you don't click every session.
Twenty contracts every UTC day
Every day you get a fresh board with the offers for the current world: 20 offers are generated and shared across your characters.
- Eight open contracts, combat or profession themed.
- Two duo contracts for two of your own champions together.
- Six class-gated cards, with class drawn from the world catalog, including a class you have not created yet.
- Four level-gated cards on combat or a profession track, stepping by five from level five to the cap.
The durations are one, two, four, and eight hours. The four- and eight-hour cards are always open so there are never long durations hidden behind a gate.
You can replace up to three unstarted cards per UTC day; the replacement keeps the same duration bucket.
Chains, duo bonus, and sigils
Some cards start a chain of two to five steps. Claim a step the same UTC day and the next step appears on the board.
A later step will pay more experience and sigils, up to 40% more on the fifth step. The chain will not roll past midnight UTC, but a run already in progress will finish and can be claimed.
The duo runs also add a one-time sigil bonus on top of the hourly rate. Sigils will bank on your account for that world. A shop for them is planned later.
I recieved expeditions to unlock more concurrent slots, up to five active runs after enough lifetime claims.
Still the same Cooldown MMO
Expeditions sit next to the existing game: painterly overworld maps, one HTTP action at a time, turn-resolved fights on the server, craft-only gear, two regions with ferries, parties and dungeons, world bosses, quests, the Looper automation deck, leaderboards, and the same rules in the browser or through the HTTP API.
