Duskmere

Duskmere is a free 3D MMORPG that opens in a browser tab with no client, launcher, or plugin. It is a game running on an engine written for this one game and it loads in seconds. It should work on a Chromebook, a Mac or a laptop with no graphics card. At startup it picks a quality preset based on your hardware.

How it plays

If you have played the bones version of the game Old School RuneScape, you should recognise the bones ten skills, that take real time to raise, a Grand Exchange run entirely by players and progression that can be earned, rather than bought. Nothing in the game is sold for real money.

  • Ten skills. Woodcutting, Mining, Smithing, Fishing, Firemaking, Cooking, Tailoring, Alchemy, Enchanting and your Character level, each capped high and raised slowly.
  • Real-time combat. Move with WASD, fight from a hotbar with cast times, and spend talent points across Warrior, Mage and Priest trees. Every monster keeps a threat table.
  • Five-player dungeons. Queue as tank, healer or damage for the Hollowroot Depths, where bosses telegraph their attacks and standing still is a mistake.
  • A player-run Grand Exchange. List what you gather, buy what you did not, and let sales go through while you are logged off.
  • Sea voyages. Sail from the Stormfen starting isle across the Deep Sea to the mainland, and out again to a wreck island beyond it.
  • A world placed by hand. From the Heartlands to the Mournfell Moors, every region is authored, not generated. Level bands run from 1 to 65 so far, with more being built.

Where it stands

Duskmere opened in July 2026. It is a live world and a new region, creatures, quests and skills are added on a regular basis. Every update is written up on the devblog.

It is built and tested for desktop; a mobile browser works, though with touch controls (this is a way to check in, not the main way to play).

Make a free account, enter Play and you are on the beach at Stormfen.
