Lord Of The Wild

Lords of the Wild is a text-based persistent browser world built around real-Earth-time seasons, day and night, survival needs, and open-world PvP. It is free to play, runs in any web browser with no install, and treats persistence as something measured in months and years rather than sessions.

Most of the browser games ask for an hour of your evening. Lords of the Wild asks for a life.

Time and survival

Time in the Wild runs on Earth time. The hour decides day and night, the month decides the season. Log in at 3 a.m., and your character will be standing in darkness.

Autumn is generous with berries and game. Winter is a lean time. Weather and daylight here mirror that of world, and the land responds to the season whether you like it or not.

Hunger, thirst, warmth, wounds and aches are not flavor bars. They are the opening curriculum. You search tiles for food, water, herbs, and the sign of animals; you forage, set traps, build fires, and make medicines.

  • Food and water gathered by searching tiles.
  • Herbs, traps, fires, and improvised medicine.
  • Sleep under canvas or in a loft if you are lucky enough to have one.

Neglect your body and the world corrects you.

Skills and progression

There are 2 types of these skills, some 35 skills, and no ceiling, no class. There is no limit on these skills, and there are no class restrictions for them.

Progression is a matter of practice. The source is also a lived level, and that lived level equals health.

Settlements, claims, and conflict

There are already standing towns on the continent, and you do not have to found your own. You can work a stable loft for bread and XP, rent a chamber or swear a burgess oath.

You can also build your way up: camp, hut, cottage, hamlet. You can hire hands into a band and hold ground, and then lay claims.

You can take claims and fight anyone you wish. At the same time, there are shops, stalls, jobs and inns to keep peacemakers occupied.

Persistence and access

Your character is still on the map when you're not on, and she can still get hungry and be wanted for a loft job, etc. Persistence is measured in months and years, not sessions.

"The wild does not rush. Neither should you."

Registration takes a minute: a christened name, an email, and a secret word. There is no install and no download, PHP and a persistent map, running in your browser.
