Overview
GridForge is a living sandbox MMORPG that runs in your browser with no download, client, or launcher. It has no classes and no levels: you learn by doing, and a hard skill cap makes every training choice a tradeoff.
There are no classes and no levels in GridForge. Swing a sword and you learn the sword; cast a spell and you learn the school.
A hard skill cap means every point you train is a point you gave up somewhere else. You can change direction any time by simply practicing something new.
The world broke. The Grid remembers. Beneath every block is the Grid, a sentient lattice that magic runs on.
Every structure players raise compresses it, and that mark never fades. Build a city and magic surges there while nature recedes: a mage is devastating downtown, while a tamer is strongest out in the thin wilderness.
Where you settle is a build choice.
The world is dangerous, and the rules change from fragment to fragment. Full loot, limited loot, or none at all: each map sets its own law.
The wild is an ecology, not a spawn table. Creatures persist across restarts, wolves hunt deer, and herds thin.
You tame a beast through a deliberate, interruptible channel, then raise it through real combat into something fearsome. Bond it over weeks so death is not permanent, then breed bloodlines through a dominant and recessive allele system.
Mutations surface albino, flame-touched, and frost-marked strains. Genetics set the baseline; training makes the legend.
Crafting runs the whole chain: mine, smelt, smith, brew, enchant, cultivate, and build. Quality scales with skill, and the best gear is made, not bought.
