Nexus: Downfall is a free-to-play space strategy game played directly in your browser. As the leader of the survivors of a fallen universe, lead your people to establish their first colony and decide how your civilization will rebuild amongst the stars.

Build your first colony

If you enjoy the long-term planning of games like OGame, Nexus will provide a familiar starting point for those who are looking for something new with its own twist on planetary management, exploration and even galactic geography. Your economy, research and fleets are inter-connected so understanding how they work together is vital.

Manage population, assign workers, and balance food, energy, and industrial production. Adjust taxes and planetary laws while keeping your citizens' happiness in mind. More housing means more potential workers, but also more mouths to feed. A larger industry needs the workforce and power to sustain it.

Decide what you want to do next with your research. You can go down the branching technology trees if you want to develop the energy infrastructure, unlock new ships, improve the industry, or invest in exploration.

Explore a galaxy with real geography

You are an explorer of regions, sectors and solar systems connected by hyperlanes. Travel to unfamiliar systems to investigate anomalies and work with your clan to discover hidden routes.

Planets and jump gates have actual positions in their systems. Fleet journeys are timed to account for orbital movement and the expected position of the destination on arrival, affecting travel time and fuel consumption. Sending a fleet to the same world at a different time may result in a different journey.

Trade, command, and make choices

Mine your asteroids, buy and sell resources using sector trade hubs, schedule a transport route and set up your fleet for its mission. Load cargo and fuel and gather intelligence before sending your fleet on the mission.

Merchants and pirates are scattered throughout the galaxy. You can either trade with the merchants, try to fight off their fleets, or consider options such as tribute and hiring pirates against them. There are costs, risks, and consequences to all of these actions.

Shape your civilization

Choose a civilization with its own history, strengths and weaknesses. Recruit characters that will stand by your side and discover an original science-fiction setting through factions, rivalries and original narrative missions with branching conversations.

Beyond the next building or the next research project is a larger question: what kind of civilization will you create after the Downfall?.
