Greetings from Rome, pilots! Flight Log #12 is a big one: since the last update, we’ve crossed 1,400 registered pilots and 12,000 missions flown, and this month we opened up a new frontier in the Asteroid Belt.
Alpha 5.3: Asteroid Mining
Asteroid Mining is the first of what we call Active Instances: real-time zones where you can’t just autopilot and walk away. You have to fly.
- Hunt. Load Mining Probes into your cargo and drop them anywhere in the Asteroid Belt. They scan the area and detect resource clusters, ranked from Low to Exceptional.
- Fly. Enter a cluster and thread through the asteroids by hand: real Flip & Burn flying, and collisions damage your hull. One bad vector and you’re paying for repairs.
- Mine. Scan the rocks, find the valuable ones, and carve them up with laser crystals mounted on your ship. Fragments flow into your cargo. Fill up, transfer to a hauler in space, and haul it home.
We added 20 new compounds, all based on the real mineralogy of C, S, and M-type asteroids: olivine, kamacite, troilite, iridium, and more. They feed into the Synthesis crafting system coming in 5.4 and 5.5, part of the full Refining, Synthesis, Printing, Assembly chain.
Bulla Aestiva
We also just launched our monthly campaign event. Climb the ranks through combat and mining missions to earn the brand-new Testudo armored tank ship, free on the standard path, with rich rewards all the way up.
Same promise as always
Free. No download. Runs in any browser, even on old ThinkPads and phones. Persistent 24/7. Nothing ever resets.
Still 3 old Italian engineers, still part-time, still running on passion and coffee. Your feedback is still our fuel.
See you in the Belt, pilots!
